Evaluation question 3 – What have you learned from your audience feedback? and video of audeince feedack after watching teaser trailer final version

Audience feedback has played a big and important part in helping our group to make the best and most accurate promotional package for our target audience. The first piece of audience feedback we received was from a Sociology class of sixth formers, aged 17 – 19 (the target audience age group for this type of genre) on our ideas for a film teaser trailer. All the students agreed that the film idea we pitched them was quite a good idea, however compared to the second idea we pitched them, the first lacked quite a lot of detail and they thought that as a group we seemed less interested and enthusiastic about the idea. This helped us as a group a lot as it immediately out lined that something was wrong and we to change our idea (which we did) otherwise we would have been stuck creating something we had no passion or enthusiasm for.
We then received a great bit of audience feedback on our other two new teaser trailer ideas. After pitching our second idea to a group of sixth formers in the common room, they all agreed that they really liked the idea and would go and watch it in the cinema, as the genre type applied to all of them (both men and women) and that the change of convention of the criminal as being women instead of men was a good change. They also thought that the women characters should be from different races and ethnic backgrounds to show how it applies and appeals to a wider audience.
For our third idea we asked a fellow media group to view and assess our idea. They agreed that it was too similar to films like the Godfather 1-3 and Goodfellars and even though it wasn’t a bad idea, they thought it would be impossible for our film idea to hit the high expectations set by the Godfather and Goodfellars.
All the audience feedback we had received was very helpful as it helped us as a group clearly see what idea was the best for us to go with. After going through all the planning stages looking at various trailers of films, posters and magazine front covers within our genre and major production company, we finally had completed our teaser trailer and showed it to a fellow year 13 sixth form student who agreed to tell us what she thought of it. We then asked her the following questions while we filmed her:
• Can you identify the genre?
• Does this film appeal to you as the target audience?
• What does appeal?
• What doesn’t appeal?
• It’s a teaser trailer and is designed not to give too much information away. What information did you get from the trailer?
• Does the trailer leave you wanting to find out more about the film?
This audience feedback was extremely helpful to us as it showed us we had successful produced a good project that appealed to its target audience, kept them interested and involved but also didn’t give too much information away.
